Take a ride on the historical O‘ahu Railway and
Land Company train which served as the transportation backbone of
O‘ahu from 1889 to 1947. Fully narrated train rides travel along six
miles of restored track.The Hawaiian Railway Society is an educational,
nonprofit organization dedicated to saving, restoring, and protecting
Hawai’i’s railroading history. Hawaiian Railway is the only railroad
on O’ahu and the only operating railroad museum in the State.

John Young Museum of Art opened in the renovated, historical Krauss Hall
on the University of Hawai’i at Manoa campus on February 24, 1999. The
museum features the collections of local painter John Young, with a
special focus on the arts of China, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and the
Pacific. In addition to its exhibition area, the museum houses a small
reading room, with art books and furnishings donated by John Young and

that took place in nineteenth-century Hawai’i at Mission Houses
Museum. Take guided tours of three historical structures. Learn of the
daily life and work of American missionaries and their influential role
in Hawai’i’s history. The Hawaiian Mission Children’s Society
Library is located in the administration building and is open to the
public. The Hawaiian Historical Society shares the Reading Room. Please

This outdoor history museum tells the story of
life on Hawai‘i’s sugar plantations (c. 1900). The village includes
restored buildings and replicas of plantation structures such as houses
of different ethnic groups, the community bath, camp office and
plantation store.

the nearly five-acre Black Point residence of heiress Doris Duke
(1912-93). Dramatically situated on the oceanfront, with commanding

The U.S.S. Arizona
Memorial Museum is the final resting place for many of the ship’s
1,177 crewmen who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. Visit includes a
twenty-minute documentary film and a shuttle boat ride to the memorial
which spans the mid-portion of the sunken battleship.
