How do I get a wedding license in Hawaii?

Hawaii is probably the easiest state in which to marry. You must be 18; have a valid driver's license, passport, or state identification; and you must have $50 cash to pay for your license. There may be an agent fee of $5.  A blood test and citizenship are NOT required. On the island of Oahu, you can go to the State Department of Health during its hours of operation.  If obtaining your license on another island, or if obtaining your license on Oahu during the weekend, we are happy to arrange your appointment with a marriage license agent on the island where you will marry.  The license is good for 30 days in the state of Hawaii.  Your marriage will be valid in any country.  If you are planning a "same-sex" wedding, please keep in mind that we can perform a commitment ceremony for you, but that it is not considered to be a legal marriage. We do suggest that you send in the form with a $10 check following your wedding day to expedite the license processing.  This will make it easier for you to proceed with the name change process on your personal documents soon after your wedding. You can download the wedding license application and access additional information regarding the wedding license by clicking on this link: http://www.hawaii.gov/doh/records/vr_marri.html .

For more information, you can receive marital packets from Hawaii's State Department of Health at (808)586-4545 or (808)586-4544.
